Júlia Vécsei: World Navigator, 2000

World Navigator is an interactive online artwork blending The artist’s personal travel photography with layered digital interaction. The project features photographs overlaid with movable layers containing fragments of the original images, disconnected from their initial composition. Users can manipulate these layers with their mouse, aligning them with corresponding elements on the photograph. Successfully matching them unlocks access to a virtual 3D space, where the selected element appears as a wireframe model that can be freely explored. Clicking on the wireframe reveals a textured version, returning the viewer to the starting image for further exploration. This cyclical navigation invites participants to engage deeply with the layered interplay of reality, memory, and digital reconstruction, transforming static visuals into dynamic, immersive experiences.
