Tamás Waliczky: Amfora, 2002

‘Amphora’ is a digital artwork that explores the interaction between form and motion. The piece features a series of animated, three-dimensional amphorae, traditional vase-like shapes, that morph and transform in fluid, dynamic ways. Through the use of computer-generated imagery, the work challenges the viewer’s perception of space and geometry, as the amphorae shift between different states and perspectives. The continuous transformation of these forms creates a mesmerizing visual experience, emphasizing the fluidity and impermanence of digital art. “Amphora” exemplifies Walczky’s interest in blending classical forms with modern digital techniques to create innovative visual narratives. As declared on Waliczky’s website, “The work was designed especially for the internet, but since April 9, 2019, Adobe Shockwave is discontinued and the Shockwave player for Windows is no longer available for download.”
