In the ‘Re:route’ project, migrants from diverse backgrounds, including Bangladesh, Bosnia, China, Congo, and several other countries, participated to share their experiences of living in Turin. The participants were approached through health and social workers, as well as migrant activist groups. The project involved a series of dialogues where each participant was asked to create a ‘mental map’—a personal illustration of how they perceive and experience the city. Following this, they were given cameras to take photographs that would visually represent their maps. This project aimed to capture the unique perspectives of migrants as they navigate and make sense of their urban environment.
