Internet art and Internet culture in Hungary in the 1990s and 2000s. A research project by Flóra Barkóczi

Tamás Zádor: Netgerilla, 2006

The Netgerilla web project was created following a six-month residency in London. Zádor established multiple accounts on the then popular image-sharing platform Flickr, each with a different email address. He proceeded to upload a substantial collection of street art photographs captured during his time in London to these Flickr pages. On the flash-based site called Netgerilla, these images were presented in a mapping of locations across the London Underground network. The project’s title alludes to a form of unconventional, guerrilla-like utilisation of the internet, akin to an occupation. The project also serves as a noteworthy illustration of the blogging phenomenon that gained prominence in the mid-2000s, significantly influencing Artists’ use of the Internet.
