Internet art and Internet culture in Hungary in the 1990s and 2000s. A research project by Flóra Barkóczi

“In Greece […] we worked on a distributed database project at the university, though of course not with today’s technologies. After I returned home and graduated, it turned out that I would have had to attend the Budapest University of Technology for another 4.5 years to earn a university degree. Almost none of my time at Kandó [Kando Kalman Politechnic of Technology – FB] was counted toward my degree. At that point, one of Kandó’s mathematics professors — who had previously taught at Delft University in the Netherlands — suggested that I complete my master’s degree there. So between 1994 and 1995, I studied in the Netherlands, where we installed our first Linux system and worked on internet-related projects. That’s where I created the first website of my life, which hasn’t changed much since then and never will. I’ve kept it in its original form to this day.”
